India is an emerging global power, and to stay in the rat race of development and technology, it is of paramount importance that the country upgrades and keeps its technological advances updated. The onus of this lies on various industries like Manufacturing, Pharma, Construction, Finance and IT.
Now. updation of technology implies that existing methodologies be either completely wiped out and new ones developed or the older methods can be reformulated to be modern ones. A very relevant example of this fact can be said to the interconnection of various departments in an organization. Until recent times, huge ledgers and files were used to maintain records of all possible interactions and transactions between various departments. However, this was very tedious, cumbersome, and there was always the risk of data getting lost simply due to the humungous volume of data being handled. Also, there was the persistent problem of lack of communication between various departments, which was always a potent threat in the background.

The only solution to all these problems was the introduction of applications like ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning. ERP is an application which serves the purpose of interconnecting various departments in an organization and also maintaining a common where all the data is stored so that any department, at any time, can access this data. This enabled transactions between various departments to be conducted in a very smooth and efficient manner and since the data could always be backed up, it became easier to handle the data at hand. Although the advent of ERP companies like SAP, BAAN and Oracle was a step in the right direction, it was prohibitively expensive to implement these branded ERP’s in the SME (Small Medium Enterprise) segment. India being a developing nation, it was always impossible to entertain such brands for the Indian market. This is where the advent of Indian ERP Companies minimized this problem to a large extent. Indian ERP companies were primarily meant and designed for the SME market, although they catered to the larger corporations too. But, the focal point of Indian ERP companies was the SME segment, which was efficient and affordable.
